Welcome to GESS and to Singapore!
Irrespective of whether you have only recently moved to Singapore or you are ‘merely’ changing school and even if you have already known the GESS for some time, questions keep coming up:
What can I buy where? Where can I find information about topic X?
To make your search a little easier, the GESS Welcome Committee has put together this handbook in collaboration with the school.
Part I contains information about the school, as well as answers to many of your ‘frequently asked questions’. As some things in school can change very quickly, an up to date version of the handbook will always be available in the internet on the homepage.
Part II, entitled ‘Living in Singapore’, contains articles and addresses which we have put together in the hope of making your first few weeks in Singapore a little easier.
You will appreciate that this information is provided without prejudice, that it is by its nature very subjective and that everyone needs to find the best solution for them, given personal circumstances.
Singapore is a very fast growing city which is changing all the time. Shops and restaurants which were in business only a few weeks ago, may suddenly have disappeared. Please remember to phone before setting off for a particular address, to ensure they are still in business!
So why not set off on a tour of discovery and be surprised by the diversity offered by GESS and by Singapore?
